The Park Authority has moved steadfastly in the past three years to implement many of the recommendations made in the three-year-old Sugar House Park Master Plan, which was developed in 2007 and approved by the Park Authority board in January 2008. In monitoring its progress in fulfilling the master plan, the Park Authority created a scorecard in March 2009 and then updated it in November 2010.
The most recent report card found that a quarter of the 75 specific recommendations made in the master plan have been completed. In addition, half of the recommendations are either in process or in a planning phase. Only a quarter of the master plan recommendations have been left unaddressed at this point. Still, some major capital improvement projects remain to be done, and the Park Authority will be concentrating on them in the coming years.
