Athletic-Field Reservations

The Sugar House Park Authority accepts applications for the use of four athletic fields: the baseball field, near the Mt Olympus Pavilion; the main soccer field, near the Big Field Pavilion; and the Southeast soccer field, near the Sugar Beet Pavilion.

Due to contractual agreements between the Park Authority and the Salt Lake City School District, Highland High School has priority use of the baseball field, the main soccer field and, of course, its own softball field. However, applicants may seek the use of these fields at times when they are not scheduled by Highland.

The fees for reserving athletic fields at Sugar House Park are as follows:

  • for non-profit groups and government organizations, the fee is $12 per hour per field, plus a $20 refundable deposit;
  • for all other groups, the fee is $180 per game, plus a $200 refundable deposit. Also, a $20 non-refundable application fee is required.

The process for applying for an athletic-field permit again is two-pronged:

  • 1, contact Salt Lake County Parks 483-5473 to obtain an Athletic Fields Reservation Request Form for Sugar House Park, complete the form and return it to County Parks;
  • 2, the application must be approved by the Park Authority Board of Trustees at one of its monthly meetings, thus requiring the appearance of the applicant at the meeting.
