EXPECTED CHANGES COMING TO THE PARK
The Sugar House Park Authority has been collaborating with the Salt Lake City School District's Auxiliary Services for almost a year to support Highland High School during its phased replacement over the next four to five years and to mitigate the impact on the park experience. See the locations of the construction activity in Sugar House Park on the map below and learn more about each project.
Park users can expect the following changes and construction activity in Sugar House Park beginning as early as May 2026.
Retaining Wall and Hill Regrading
Along the property line between Highland High School and the Park from 1700 E to the eastern edge of the school's football field.

Softball Field Replacement
The deteriorating backstop field on the southern edge of the park between Sego Lily and Mt. Olympus Pavilions will be updated for softball.

Sanitary Sewerline Connection
The school will make a pipe connection from the northwest corner of their softball field into an existing public utilities line under the park's road.
