CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS

• August 20, 21, and 22, 2025 — No power in the park while Rocky Mountain Power works to relocate a power pole near Parley's Creek Pavilion.

• August 12–19, 2025 — Electrical wiring installed at Big Field, and roof tongue and groove slats installed.

• August 4–11, 2025 — Concrete poured for the pad under Big Field and a new sidewalk from parking lot to the pedestrian footbridge.

• July 21–28, 2025 — Tree planting by Parley's Creek Pavilion. Fencing down and sidewalk from parking lot to playground is open.

• July 8–15, 2025 — Standing seam metal roof installed on Parley's Creek Pavilion. Pavilion is still awaiting power after the relocation of a power pole by Rocky Mountain Power.

• June 21–July 6, 2025 — Several trusses of Big Field Pavilion were manufactured incorrectly. New trusses ordered and awaiting delivery. Concrete poured for new sidewalk by Parley's Creek Pavilion. Sod to replace old site of Parley's Creek Pavilion has taken root.

• June 16-20, 2025 — Erection of the Big Field Pavilion columns and trusses. The sidewalk from Big Field to the pedestrian bridge is fenced for removal and replacement in a new alignment. Fin details installed on Parley's Creek Pavilion.

• June 9-13, 2025 — Concrete poured for footings of the Big Field Pavilion. Concrete seat walls are poured at Parley's Creek.

• June 2-6, 2025 — Trusses installed on Parley's Creek Pavilion. Extra dirt hauled away to level ground.

• May 22–23, 2025 — Horizontal drilling to run new, individual electrical utilities to Parley's Creek, Mt. Olympus, and Sego Lily pavilions. Previously, all three pavilions were on the same power supply, so if power were turned off to a single pavilion, all three would be shut off. The new electrical supports a higher voltage, which supports the pavilion design with a power outlet at each column. This work will also help the future replacement pavilions at Mt. Olympus and Sego Lily.

• May 20, 2025 — Notice to proceed given to contractor. The contractor has 101 days to complete both Parley's Creek and Big Field Pavilions. First Owner, Architect, Contractor (OAC) on-site meeting.

• May 19, 2025 — Holes dug at Parley's Creek Playground for footings.

• May 14, 2025 — Permit approved by Salt Lake City.

• April 2025 — Contractor fencing goes up in the park around construction sites. The parking lot by the Big Field pavilion is closed. Reduced parking stalls in the Parley's Creek parking lot.

• April 4, 2025 — Contractor received notice to proceed.

• March 21, 2025 — Contractor bids due for construction.

• March 10, 2025 — In-person pre-bid site walk with interested contractor vendors.

• March 2025 — Salt Lake County Parks & Recreation submits permit to Salt Lake City for review.

• February 2025 — Solicitation for hard bids issued through Salt Lake County Parks & Recreation for contracting services of both pavilions.​

• January 2025 — Full funding becomes available to move forward with construction for two pavilions.

• December 2024 — Salt Lake County Council adopts the FY2025 Budget, which includes matched funding from Salt Lake City to replace Big Field and Parley's Creek Pavilions.

• July 2024 — Salt Lake City Council adopts its FY2025 Budget, which includes 50% funding for replacement of the Big Field and Parley's Creek Pavilions.

• December 2023 — Sugar House Park Authority collaborates with Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation to submit capital improvement projects (CIPs) with Salt Lake City Public Lands for FY2025.
