Who to Contact for Assistance in Sugar House Park

EMERGENCY, CALL 911

Call 911 for any medical emergencies or life-threatening situations like active violence or serious crimes in progress. It is also appropriate to call for public safety threats, hazardous material spills, or situations involving injuries from accidents. If you are unsure whether a situation is a true emergency, it is best to call 911, and the dispatcher can determine the correct course of action.

NON-EMERGENCY, CALL 801-799-3000

You should call the Salt Lake City non-emergency number for incidents that require police assistance but do not pose an immediate threat to life or property. Examples include property damage, non-injury traffic accidents, thefts (where the suspect is gone), and nuisance complaints. For crimes in progress or situations with immediate danger, dial 911. The non-emergency line helps keep 911 lines open for true emergencies.

Use non-emergency for:

  • Traffic incidents: Non-injury accidents or hit-and-runs where the suspect has left the scene.

  • Property crime: Thefts, car break-ins, vandalism, or graffiti where the suspect is no longer present.

  • Fraud and other non-in-progress crimes: Identity theft, fraudulent schemes, or other non-violent crimes where the suspect is not on the scene.

  • Nuisance complaints: Noise issues or other minor problems that require police attention but are not emergencies.

  • Lost property: To report lost or stolen property that does not require an immediate police response.
